Between the years of 1992 and 2002 a new residential and commercial district was built in a former harbour area on the western edge of Helsinki. Although its parks are hidden from view as you drive by, Ruoholahti has numerous modern and compact parks with a rich variety of plants. Even the bridges and canals are lined with flowers.
